Tourist sites in the North-West of France
The north of France offers you varied landscapes and incredible culture. At the gateway to Brittany, visit the Mont Saint-Michel. In the heart of a charming village, this abbey will seduce you with its gothic architecture and its breathtaking view of the site's highest tides in Europe.
Heading northwards towards the north of France to the Seine estuary, the maritime city of Honfleur is waiting for you. This corner of Normandy has managed to preserve its authenticity so much that when you walk there, you feel like you are a century back in time: cobbled streets, fishing port, picturesque houses. A romantic atmosphere emanates from this small town with its flowered coasts.
Continue your visit with the Bay of the Somme in Picardy. The largest bay in France offers you a landscape of peace and quiet. You will find many species of migratory birds, seals and an incredible flora. It is important to visit these places in the company of a guide, because the tides there also take over without warning.
You can't visit the northwest of France without stopping at the Château de Chambord. One of the most beautiful castles of the Loire Valley, it took more than thirty years to complete this jewel of Gothic architecture. As well as the castle of Tours, or the famous castle of Cheverny, the castle of Chenonceau is one of the Loire Valley castles not to be missed. You will easily be able to discover all the latter's richness, as it is only 50 kilometers from Chambord in the Pays de la Loire region.
Tourist sites in the South-West of France
Discover the south-west of France with the Ile de Ré. In the Landes, you will undoubtedly appreciate the mild climate offered by the Ile de Ré. Now connected to the continent by a bridge, the Ile de Ré offers you beautiful bike rides along its coast and a moment of culture with its citadel and the visit of the lighthouse of the Whales.
One hundred kilometers further on, let yourself be surprised by the Ile d'Oléron. Off the coast of Charente-Maritime, this island will charm you with the diversity of its landscapes: vineyards, forests, beaches, dunes. You will also be able to enjoy historical sites such as the church of Saint Pierre.
Further south, discover in the Hautes-Pyrénées, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre. Every year, several thousands of visitors go there to enjoy its incredible panorama. Its first vocation was at the beginning of the meteorological research with its astronomical observatory and television relay. Other activities such as winter sports (skiing, snow) or hiking and mountain biking have developed there.
In the Midi-Pyrénées region, also discover the village of Rocamadour. Situated in the Lot, this high place of pilgrimage welcomes many faithful people who have come to pay homage to the black virgin. The holy city keeps an old imprint with its pedestrian streets and shows of birds of prey.
You can then take a river cruise along the Canal du Midi and discover a wide range of several landscapes while heading south-east to continue your tour of French geography.
Tourist sites in the South-East of France
Continue your sightseeing trip in the south-east of France, by going to the gorges of the Tarn. Right in the center of Lozère, this canyon shelters many magnificent natural sites such as the cirques of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn, or that of Les Baumes. The beauty of this place has also earned it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, discover the city of Aix-en-Provence. This city of art has incredible cultural and architectural wealth. Take the opportunity to go around the Sainte Victoire, this mountain of more than 1000 meters of altitude gives you a view of a large and magnificent bastide. Not far from Aix, discover the Calanque d'En Vau. Thirty kilometers from the center of Marseille, this little corner of paradise offers you translucent waters with turquoise colors, reminiscent of those of Corsica. You can then head north to Annecy, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Nicknamed the Venice of the Alps, Annecy will charm you with its canals and medieval architecture. The nearby lake is also worth the detour for a walk along its clear water.
